Meet the Kanab Patriots last names N-P

One hundred and seventy five (175) area residents engage with Kanab Patriots FB page promoting hate, bigotry, disinformation, personal attacks, business attacks, extremism, war cries, carry weapons against neighbors, public health disregard and defense of criminal behavior including embracing locals who went to D.C. January 6th to keep Trump in power.. This is the sixth alphabetical post in the KURW “Patriot Series”.

Public engagement from fifteen people whose last names began with the letters N, O, or P and engaged with Kanab Patriots online or in public activities were reviewed for this post. Of those 15, five met the requirements for KURW Hatewatch, one of which is designated Red Level for extensive public posts of extremism & bigotry. The remaining ten are indicated with “insufficient for hatewatch” or are not included because they do not reside in the Kanab area. Their evidence is displayed as a Google Presentation in Section 1 of 3 below. This is the sixth of of the “Patriot Series” by last names and others can be seen here: A-C. A few of the 175+ Kanab Patriots do not meet the criteria so are not included on KURW Hatewatch with 400+ of their neighbors and are marked “Insufficient for Hatewatch” or “Not on Hatewatch”. Some of the Kanab Patriots are included in the 60+ Red Level Neighbors for their extensive hate/extremism/bigotry, including the founders of Kanab Patriots: USMC Veteran Jeff Schwilk and partner Ly “Tana” Kou pictured above and detailed in slideshow in section 2 of 3 below.

Of the 15 Kanab Patriots reviewed all but two openly support the J6 Insurrection or some call of war for 2020-2024 (Revolutionary or Civil) and conspiracies. This group consists of :

• 3 are US Veterans and/or spouses of US Veterans
• 3 were in public service including 1 public staff and 1 Fire/EMT & 1 teacher, all retired
• 5 are business owners, 3 of which supported/celebrated the closure of a local business because of her liberal political views. Those include Kanab Liquor by Louis Pratt, Patton Handyman & EC Guest Services by Elizabeth “Lizzie Ann” Patton, and Frye Wings by Drew Nehrenz
• 1 is designated “Red Level Neighbors” for the depth & breadth of their public posts & public activism of extremism & bigotry. One of his posts is included in KANASSHOLE POSTS by Tina & Jeff Collins, Louis Pratt, David Crosby, Desiree Felish & Hunter Cram
• Other extremist groups supported include: J6 Stop-the-Steal, Ammon Bundy’s People’s Rights Network, Truckers Convoy, Oath Keepers, Rittenhouse, Q’Anon

Co-founders Jeff Schwilk & Tana Kou moved to Kanab from Southern California in 2018. Jeff had some legal battles with hate groups that he founded and/or led there and already had other FB extremists pages before starting his first local page “Kanabians for Slow, Sensible Growth” then “Kanab Conservative Activism” now “Kanab Patriots.” The Southern Poverty Law Center (non-profit U.S. organization monitoring the activities of domestic hate groups and other extremists) exposed Schwilk’s activities from 2007-2018.

3 of 4: How evidence is gathered and presented

The evidence is gathered from public posts on social media, public engagement at rallies/events, and legal information that is accessible to the public. In other words, no private information is used and evidence IS SIMPLY COPIED from the source posting the public evidence.

The evidence is presented in a Google Slideshow format categorized by topic instead of a collection of the screenshots of the evidence for three reasons (1) the categorized format reveals the magnitude of the hate for given topics so that people can better address that individual for targeted intervention (2) the screenshot format of the post can lead to an amplification of hate by others simply sharing that post and (3) the Google Presentation format allows for links to other sources while a screenshot does not.

Here are examples of how the summarized version on Google Slideshows (left side of image) are based directly from the screenshots of evidence (right side of image). In both examples the January 6th attack on the US Capitol is supported by Kanab Mayor CJ Johnson (top image) and Kanab Chief of Police Tom Cram (bottom image).
