Meet the Kanab Patriots last names U-Z

One hundred and seventy five (175) area residents engage with Kanab Patriots FB page promoting hate, bigotry, disinformation, personal attacks, business attacks, extremism, war cries, carry weapons against neighbors, public health disregard and defense of criminal behavior including embracing locals who went to D.C. January 6th to keep Trump in power.. This is the eighth & final post in the KURW “Patriot Series” in alphabetical order by last name

Public engagement by 13 people whose last names begin with the letters U, V, W, X, Y & Z and engaged with Kanab Patriots online or in public activities were reviewed for this post. Of those thirteen, 11 met the requirements for KURW Hatewatch, none of which are designated Red Level for extensive public posts of extremism & bigotry. The remaining four are indicated with “insufficient for hatewatch” or “n/a” and are not included because they do not reside in the Kanab area. A few of the 175+ Kanab Patriots do not meet the criteria so are not included on KURW Hatewatch with 400+ of their neighbors and are marked “Insufficient for Hatewatch” or “Not on Hatewatch”. Some of the Kanab Patriots are included in the 60+ Red Level Neighbors for their extensive hate/extremism/bigotry, including the founders of Kanab Patriots: USMC Veteran Jeff Schwilk and partner Ly “Tana” Kou pictured above and detailed in slideshow in section 2 of 3 below.

Of these 13 Kanab Patriots reviewed, 8 openly support the J6 Insurrection or some call of war for 2020-2024 (Revolutionary or Civil) and conspiracies. This group consists of :

• 2 are/were in public service including 1 first responder (Russ Whitaker, Kane County Sheriffs Search & Rescue), 1 nurse (Rachael Wetzel) and 1 city council candidate (Judy Woolley)
• 3 are business owners, all of whom oppose liberals moving to and living in the area (Shelly Wayne, Wendy Williams & Holly Wolverton)
• Other extremist groups supported by these 13 include: J6 Stop-the-Steal, Insurrectionists from Kanab Area, Ammon Bundy’s People’s Rights Network, Oath Keepers, Rittenhouse, Q’Anon and Utah Business Revival.

Co-founders Jeff Schwilk & Tana Kou moved to Kanab from Southern California in 2018. Jeff had some legal battles with hate groups that he founded and/or led there and already had other FB extremists pages before starting his first local page “Kanabians for Slow, Sensible Growth” then “Kanab Conservative Activism” now “Kanab Patriots.” The Southern Poverty Law Center (non-profit U.S. organization monitoring the activities of domestic hate groups and other extremists) exposed Schwilk’s activities from 2007-2018.

3 of 4: How the evidence is gathered and presented

The evidence is gathered from public posts on social media, public engagement at rallies/events, and legal information that is accessible to the public. In other words, no private information is used and evidence IS SIMPLY COPIED from the source posting the public evidence.

The evidence is presented in a Google Slideshow format categorized by topic instead of a collection of the screenshots of the evidence for three reasons (1) the categorized format reveals the magnitude of the hate for given topics so that people can better address that individual for targeted intervention (2) the screenshot format of the post can lead to an amplification of hate by others simply sharing that post and (3) the Google Presentation format allows for links to other sources while a screenshot does not.

Here are examples of how the summarized version on Google Slideshows (left side of image) are based directly from the screenshots of evidence (right side of image). In both examples the January 6th attack on the US Capitol is supported by Kanab Mayor CJ Johnson (top image) and Kanab Chief of Police Tom Cram (bottom image).
