Love it or Leave Series, Part 1: “Leave Kanab, Don’t Come Here”

This post is a special request to expose the bigotry of “transplants, move-ins, and those not like themselves.” The residents of Kane County Utah who do post such bigotry, typically use “love it or leave” or “move back to where you came from” and “Don’t California my Utah”.

Engaging in this “shut up or leave” bigotry is nearly 50 business owners, 16 first responders including the Kanab City Police Chief , 15 veterans and 17 public officials & government staff including schools. Most of the participants are also “move-ins.” The table below lists the names of all who engaged. Details of evidence is throughout the post in topic related sections.

“Move back to the city, don’t push your ideology on me” by Robert Brissette

One month before Kanab Patriot Robert Brissette coughed on Black Lives Matter sign waivers (viral video), he posted “move your happy ASS back to the big city…” describing anger at liberal neighbors. Brissette posted thin on Kanab/Fredonia Rant & Rave despite violating group guidelines and including a backhoe murder discussion of liberals in the comments. The following April, Brissette was arrested for threatening perceived liberals on. a FB page “Say It Kanab! Free Speech for All” and a few months later killed in a personal altercation.

Sharing Brissette’s sentiment for “others” to MOVE BACK are nine area business owners, three area US Veterans and four first responders/law enforcement & family members. Most are on KURW Hatewatch, many are designated Red Level Neighbors and all but a few moved to Kane County from somewhere else, too!

“Move if you don’t like the way things are here” by Kane Law Enforcement

When a resident posted a simple inquiry on Kanab/Fredonia Rant & Rave about cattle being on hiking trails, he was met with the “just leave” demeaning reply from Kanab Police Officer Dustin Bundy with other law enforcement and business owners or their family members supporting such hate.

Officer Bundy was exposed in KURW post Kanab City Police Department: Chief Tom Cram & Officer Dustin Bundy. Among other bigotry, Bundy blamed Best Friends Animal Society for most of the division and frustration in Kanab and that the town would be better off without their money and employment.

Officer Bundy’s actions are modeled by his chief of police and Kane County jail commander stating that Americans lawfully expressing views in opposition to their own should be exiled and lose their freedom. Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies Mark Cole Brown & Thomas Landon Cram also agree that people should just leave the country. Corrections Officer Landon Cram is the son of the Chief of the Kanab City Police Department, Tom Cram, and is a red level Kanab Patriot for extensive bigotry & extremism. In 2015 when the New Orleans City Council voted unanimously to remove a statue of Robert E Lee, Cole Brown changed his profile picture to a statue of & supportive story of Robert E Lee . In this post he describes the murder of George Floyd by Chauvin as “didn’t film well”.

The bigotry even flows from volunteers in the department. When US Veteran Douglas Tiffin of KURW Hatewatch pled with members of a local platform dominated by hate, Kanab/Fredonia Rant & Rave, to not take things so far and stop the fighting he is met with flippant remarks and MOVE BACK rhetoric by Russ Whitaker and Randy Archbold. Russ Whitaker is an engineer for Iron Rock Engineering in Kanab and volunteers with Kane County Sheriff’s Office Search & Rescue. He is a red level K-Patriot & Bundy’s People’s Rights Network (PRN). Tiffin and Archbold are recent additions to Kanab from California and Whitaker is a long-time resident from Wyoming.

“Get the fuck out of America [BLM activist]” by Casey Franklin & fellow K-Patriots

Arguments were endless on local FB groups when Kanab stood 100+ strong to march for George Floyd and against police violence. Subsequent advertised social justice events in Kanab were met with Back the Blue, All Lives Matter and MAGA counter protesters. Residents spread disinformation and lashed out at Black Lives Matter supporters on Kanab/Fredonia Rant & Rave. A new FB page, Kanab Conservative Activism, was founded by long time far-right activists Jeff Schwilk & Ly “Tana” Kou to target any progressive action or ideas in Kanab. That page is now named Kanab Patriots and most of the people engaging in Casey Franklin’s “get the fuck out of America” are Kanab Patriots and continue to engage in bigotry & extremism on Kanab/Fredonia Rant & Rave as seen below. Business owner Spencer Black joined in telling demonstrators to leave. Spencer Black operates Eden Organics, a CSA which was under investigation by KPD for collecting dues and not delivering goods. He has a December 2022 court date for child abuse resulting in injury and violating a protective order.

“Reusable bags? Don’t like our traditions? Adapt or Go the fuck back to where you came from ” by the Meyeres, Jessica Pierce & Alex Castaneda

When a resident shared their perspective as invited by the post in local group Kanab Unclassifieds, the elected official & local business owner Celeste & Nicholas Meyeres double team to berate and demean. Nicholas blames any desire for change on socialist move-ins. Celeste berates the resident after posting to share perspectives. All of them moved to Kanab from somewhere else: Celeste in 2006 from San Diego, CA, Beaverton, OR and Red Lodge, MT. Nicholas in 2006 from Indianapolis & Attica, Indiana and Hutchison, Kansas.

Celeste and Nicholas are both Red Level Neighbors, Kanab Patriots & Bundy’s People’s Rights Network. They own Burro Flats High Desert Lodge. Celeste is the chair of Kane County GOP, current Kanab City Council Member and 2022 candidate for Kane County Commission. Nicholas’s employment was terminated at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, he assisted J6er Stephen Corson at his 89/89A All Lives Matter/MAGA rallies & Trump Cruise and hosted a “See My Smile” mask protest at Kanab Elementary. He has no children in Kane County School District, they reside in other states.

Nicholas furthers the bigotry by supporting “Go the fuck back to where you came from” comment by Jessica Pierce. Fellow Kanab Patriot Hunter Cram (Kanab City staff & son of KPD Chief) joins that support of hate and dismissal of residents who are not from Kanab. Jessica Pierce is daughter of Sharon Crane & family of other KURW Hatewatch members: Steven White and Olivia Caruso.

“CA Socialists & Pronoun users stay away, you are not welcome here” by Duanne Moore, Kanab Patriots

In a discussion about new businesses coming to Kanab from California, Duanne Moore responds that if they are socialists that they should stay away. Duane supported Insurrectionists from Kanab Area, David Crosby’s outrage at Romney Jan 6 and his spouse’s, Su Bischoff Moore’s outrage at athletes taking a knee. Joining in his bigotry is another recent addition from California Tana Kou. After moving to Kanab in 2016, Kou co-founded hate page Kanab Patriots with her partner Jeff Schwilk, veteran & anti-immigrant activist exposed by Southern Poverty Law Center.

Radicalizing their followers in bigotry of others and the California socialist rhetoric is local hate page Kanab Patriots (formerly Kanab Conservative Activism) founded in 2020 by two Kanab residents from California, Ly “Tana” Kou and Jeff Schwilk. In a turn of events two US veterans, both former California residents & both on KURW Hatewatch engage in a hateful encounter of “just leave” on Kanab/Fredonia Rant & Rave group. James White tells Jeff Schwilk to “go back to the shit hole CA…” Jeff Schwilk is the founder of Kanab Patriots and his post immediately above this one Schwilk tells California liberals to “stay in the leftist cesspool you created…” Both are US Veterans from California and recent move-ins who don’t want California move-ins.

Occasionally, Conservative CA move-ins speak up against the bigotry as seen here by Linda Chickering. In this comment she pleas with others “stop being so judgmental”. Chickering has no UT voting record (spouse Kanab voter since 2020).

Although new to Kanab, Chickering’s public engagement includes support of Red Level Kanab Neighbors, including:

• USA is holocaust repeating in 2021 by Democratic Party & neighbors turning a blind eye by Red Level Kanab Patriot & J6er David Crosby.
• USA Twighlight Zone, sinking Titanic 2021 (one day after J6 Armed Insurrection) in which what was once immoral is now moral (socialism, transgender, racial equity, citizen census, reparations, rights of incarcerated, women’s equity, affordable healthcare, vetting immigrants), Biden can blackmail Ukraine but impeachable if Trump inquires, etc. by Red Level Veteran & avid supporter of J6 Insurrection Jim Baker
• Unmask our Kids “See My Smile” campaign by Caitlin Cox.
• USA 2021: I will not apologize for: being caucasian, a god fearing American, a supporter of good cops & 2A and for loving my non-white friends. I will not: bend a knee for anyone but the Lord, be brainwashed by the media by Red Level Veteran & Public Office holder Byard Kershaw.

“Don’t cancel us, no more move-ins vilifying our way of life” by Rinda Allredge & Celeste Meyeres

Elected public official, Celeste Meyeres, justifies a “no more move-ins” response by a resident about a suggestion from another resident for a dog park or community garden, of which Kanab has neither. Meyeres misrepresents the community request as an attack on local way of life, specifically “devalued, vilified and bought out by those new to the area”. Her sentiment is exposed as hypocrisy in later comments “we are happy to have you [Jeremy Trebas, a Montana State Representative] and other like-minded [right of Conservative] people coming here” compared to original post “I will assume the best of anyone until they prove otherwise” revealing her expectation of conformity that “newcomers have the potential to make themselves just as welcome here as anyone else.”

Celeste Meyeres is the chair of Kane County GOP, newly elected Kane County Commissioner 2023, and a current member of the Kanab City Council. She has been a Kanab voter since 2006 and is from San Diego, CA, Red Lodge, Montana & Beaverton, OR. She openly supports hate-page Kanab Patriots, the founders Jeff & Tana, the Insurrectionists from Kanab Area Stephen Corson & David Crosby, and Ammon Bundy’s People’s Rights Network. Because of the volume and content of her extremism & bigotry, she is one of 85 from Hatewatch by KURW designated Meet Your Neighbors: Red Level.

Expanding on this “hurt by others before you” claim by Meyeres, is Kane County Lt. Sheriff’s spouse & owner of Big Al’s Burger “Junction“, Rinda Reese Alldredge, a fellow Kanab Patriot. Rinda’s claim of being “canceled” and intensification since “Robert Redford targeted us” is supported by Celeste Meyeres & other public figures (law enforcement family & county staff). Redford was fighting to protect Utah from California development (see Deseret article for details).

When a resident posted a statement of concern with a photo of a rabbit shot with an arrow and left there, Alex Castaneda states “visit if you must, stay if you like, but definitely adapt if you stay”. Castaneda warns “non local people” that this way of life was here long before them and “not everyone can sell a house for high value in California and move to Utah” where some families still survive on these traditions. Castaneda has no Utah voting record and is from California. Castenada liked an “Intolerance” post, , which included a list of lifestyles qualified by “I never cared that you…..until you shoved it down my throat”. “No, Go Back” is the supported response to people moving to red states from blue states by Ray Clark & friends. Clark serves on the Garkane Energy Board, representing Kanab City limit. He has been a Kanab voter since 1988 from Boulder City, Nevada. Clark’s transphobic post was exposed in KURW post Bigotry LGBTQ+ (Part Two of Three)

Two weeks later, Kanab Patriots posted “No more dicks in Utah! Expel them all”. The founder of Kanab Patriots is a US Veteran, Jeff Schwilk, and is joined by fellow veteran Kenneth Guinn. Business owners Chris Paul of The Chris Paul Band and Shannon Allen of Red Cliffs Rental support this bigotry. A few supporters are Red Level Hatewatch (Steve Sanders, Kenneth Guinn, Dave Miller troll/fake account, Jorja Hernandez) for excessive extremism & bigotry and a couple led rallies & counter-protests at 89/89A for All Lives Matter & MAGA (Steve Sanders, James Knowles, Jeff Schwilk, Jim Rollyson).

The “Don’t be a dick” meme was also posted by former resident Christian Oviatt and again supported by US veteran and Red Level Hatewatch neighbor Kenneth Guinn.

Vote Red in Idaho or stay in California shared from an Idaho resident by a Utah resident, Karen Kramer, who is from Arizona with no record of residence in California or Idaho. Her spouse is a US veteran who supported the Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol. The one supporter, Teresa Sprecher, in Kanab who liked this bigotry has no record of residence in California either. Sprecher’s spouse also supported Jan 6 Trump & The Storm conspiracy and his father is a veteran. Only one of the respondents had a residence in California.

Before Rinda Alldredge commented on Celeste Meyeres’ post “Please, no more move-ins….Robert Redford targeted us” (in section above), she questioned the Democratic move-ins on Kanab/Fredonia Rant & Rave. Again, many Kanab Patriots supported this bigotry and added to it.

Terry Beardall shared the same post as Marilyn Kurtz. Both are Kanab Patriots & because of the breath and depth of extremism & bigotry of Beardall’s posts, he is designated a Red Level. Jessica Caruso Pierce-White resorts to “how long have your kids lived here…this is our livelihood…” in a discussion with a generational family member opposed to the building of frac sand facility.
